The biblical Bereans "searched the Scriptures daily" to see if what they were being taught was the truth. As was true of our namesake, we at Berean Bible Church want to devote ourselves to the truth of Scripture. Wednesday evenings are set aside for Bible study and Scripture memory...with a dash of fun and fellowship.
Pastor Stuckey has long modeled the discipline of Scripture memory - continuing in it even today, at age 90+. At any moment, he is able to quote whole passages of verses applicable to any situation. We want to learn from his example. We want our children's first words to be from God's word. As they mature, we want to teach them to apply what they have learned to their own lives, and to make Scripture memory a lifelong pursuit.
For decades, we have been involved in the AWANA Scripture memory club. We pursue Scripture memory as a whole congregation. On Wednesday evenings, our 3-4 year olds participate in the "Cubbies" club, learning Scripture memory verses, listening to chronological Bible stories, playing games and enjoying a snack. Our Kindergarteners through second graders participate in the "Sparks" club. These two clubs are part of the national Awana program. Each child works through their book, learning verses and doing activities that help train them to apply the Bible to their lives.
The EAGLE CLUB is designed for our 3rd - 6th graders. Those involved memorize whole passages/chapters of Scripture, one verse at a time, with much review. We believe there is value in repetition of key passages, so the Word of God will not be memorized temporarily, but be implanted and grow and produce fruit in our lives.
COME, join the clubs any Wednesday night, 6:30 - 8:00 pm. As the children learn verses, the youth have their own Bible study at Youth Station (Jr. High) and Youth Alive (High School). The adults also study the Bible with Pastor Stone. |
